ELK
October 1 - January 31
General Elk Areas
Area 6: October 1-October 31
Area 126: October 1-November 30
Hunters need approximately TWO preference points to draw in general areas.
Limited Quota Ranches
Area 16: October 1-November 30
Area 7: October 15-November 20
Area 114: October 1-November 30
All elk archery seasons are September 1-30
Our private ranches in southeast Wyoming have resident elk herds. Trophy quality is excellent and a number of nationally recognized consultants say Area 7 is Wyoming's best. The odds of drawing a license are not good. But if you are lucky enough to draw, the odds of success are great.
Area 6 and 7 elk hunts are based from our Fort Laramie headquarters. The elk are hunted on some of our long-term leases, where we also hunt trophy mule deer. Unlike the other areas, Area 6 elk hunts can be done on a general license with easy draw odds. This private ranch has an increasing elk herd and relatively easy terrain. Bull quality is not as good as the other ranches, but licenses can be drawn with zero to one preference point.
Area 16 and 114 elk hunts are run out of our Elk Mountain location. Success has been high in both of these areas. The elk quality is good and the herds are increasing.
